• What is silicon Carbide?

    Silicon carbide is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula SiC. It’s a typical covalently bonded compound, with 78% of the total energy of the Si-C bond in the covalent state and 22% in the ionic state, and exists in nature in the form of the rare mineral moissanite.
    In the 1890s, Edward Goodrich Acheson, an American, invented the synthesis process of silicon carbide, which was made by smelting quartz sand, petroleum coke, coal coke and other raw materials in a resistance furnace at high temperature.

    2.According to the classification of phase composition: 
    Solid phase sintering silicon carbide, liquid phase sintering silicon carbide, SiC Composite, SiC nanoparticle composite, silicon carbide-graphite particles, carbon nanotubes, whisker composite ceramics and SiC-carbon fiber ceramic matrix compound material, etc.
  • Why is reaction bonded silicon carbide not suitable for strong acid and alkali working conditions?

    Since reaction bonded silicon carbide contains free silicon(Si), the free silicon can be chemically corroded in the medium of strong acid and alkali, resulting in the reduced  service life of products. So it's not recommended.
